NEW YORK—Dr. Jill Gordon recently hosted a cocktail party for 2012 London Olympic hopeful Holly Payne. Holly Payne and Dr. Gordon’s horse Madeline (“Baby”) have qualified for four-star status in 2009, a must to try out for the United States Equestrian Team.
For the next three years, Holly will work in the U.S. and Europe at developing her equestrian art while maintaining the soundness and health of her equine partner.
Three-day eventing was once known as “Militaire”. This comprehensive cavalry training requires mastery of different riding disciplines. The three phases are dressage, cross country, and show jumping.
Today, these tests are no less challenging. The three phases test the stamina and abilities of both horse and rider. Success is required in all three areas….
