Brave Claire Lomas Battles to Walk Again
Claire Lomas (28) fractured her neck, back and ribs after coming off her horse at the Osberton Horse Trials in May 2007 and was told she would never use her legs again.
She has built an extensive gym in the garage of her home and maintains a grueling exercise regime which means she can now stand, but determined Claire has more ambitious plans to walk – and ride – again.
She said: “Hospital staff told me I would never get out of my chair but I’d quite like to prove them wrong. It helps motivate me even more. I was delighted to be able to stand without support. I’m just starting to lock out my knees.
“I am hoping to ride again soon. It’s been more than a year. I’ve been on a mechanical horse but it’s not quite the same. I can’t wait to ride again.”…
