Best event riders at Sydney International Equestrian Centre (SIEC)

The creme of Upper Hunter event riders along with several determined emerging equestrians from the region will converge at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre (SIEC) this week as the 2009 eventing season gets underway.

Upper Hunter riders including Olympian Nikki Richardson, her husband and New Zealand representative Blair Richardson, and talented Gundy rider Ali Foye will compete against riders including Beijing Olympic silver medalists Shane Rose and Megan Jones.

Sydney Eventing is running a mid-week competition today ahead of a weekend event.

The much anticipated event has an extra Upper Hunter dimension with hard working event director and cross country coordinator Sue Gunn at the helm – when not running around on a quad bike at SIEC, she is based at Murrumbo, near Denman.

“We are delighted with our entries with over 640 horses over the two events; this is a great way to begin the season and despite the rain, the going is perfect,” Mrs Gunn said….
