- King Pin’s cause of death at Rolex was ruled a hemorrhage of the large vessels in the abdomen, unrelated to any jumping effort or trauma. “This is a very rare condition and the actual cause is unknown,” according to Dr. Christiana Ober, the Canadian Eventing Team veterinarian.
- Event rider Ian Olding was killed in a fall at Belton Horse Trials yesterday. Our thoughts are with Ian’s family and the eventing community.
- Ian Stark will take over from Sue Benson as cross-country course-designer at Bramham Horse Trials next year. This year marks Sue’s 10th as designer at Bramham, but she will now step down to concentrate on designing the course for the 2012 Olympics in London.
- Megan Jones (AUS) is running away with the 2009 HSBC FEI World Cup™ Eventing after two wins in as many outings. She is now guaranteed a place at the HSBC FEI World Cup™ Eventing Final at Strzegom (POL) in August, having followed her win last month at Kihikihi (NZL) with another victory at Sydney’s Weekend of Equestrian World Cups (AUS) on the same horse, Kirby Park Irish Jester.
