Pony club Girls Riding on a High for NSW

NAROOMA Pony Club riders Mel Lawson and Nicole Negus have both been selected to represent NSW again in 2009.

Seventeen year old Mel Lawson has won her way to selection again for the NSWPC Australian championships, this time in Eventing at SIEC, Sydney’s Olympic Park at Homebush. Mel is known for her excellence in dressage and show riding and has now proven herself a true horsewoman in another discipline, Eventing. This young rider has done what so few riders have ever achieved, all in the short time of only three and a half years.

A few years ago Mel’s mother and chief instructor of Narooma Pony Club, Kim Taylor were watching her jump a eight inch cross rail at a trot and when they said to each other, “Oh my gosh that was scary’, and now Mel’s wins are too many to name.

The aim is to represent your state then, of course the ultimate goal, your country is only one more step…
