Weekend of Horse Trials at Scone Palace
Central Scotland Horse Trials at Scone Palace are hosting the Scottish Novice Eventing Championships and the inaugural Scottish Intermediate Eventing Championships this weekend.
The Scottish Eventing Championships have come to its new home in Perthshire as a result of the demise of Thirlestane Castle Horse Trials earlier this year.
Following a hugely successful event in the grounds of Scone Palace in May, organiser James Oakden and his hard working team have also incorporated a CIC** into this weekend’s event.
“The exciting new development of the Scottish Intermediate Championships will be incorporated within the new CIC2* class, which will mean competitors can use it for a late qualifying run for the very popular Blair Castle Horse Trials, or a final tune up”, said James.
May’s CIC** winner Mark Kyle is set to return to defend his first and second spot with Coolio and Just Otto, but the competition standard is high and with many other notable names also looking to take the title spectators can expect to be left guessing until the bitter end.
Former international event rider, Ian Stark has designed the course, which is set to be an exciting test for horse and rider and thrilling for spectators. Alongside the Championships and CIC** there is also BE90 (Intro), BE100 (Pre Novice), Novice and Intermediate classes running over the three days.
The horse trials are supported by Perth and Kinross Council.
Spectators can expect on- site catering and trade stands, alongside excellent viewing for all three phases, including the popular water complex. Dogs on leads and picnics welcome.
