Equestrian Eventing Fulfills Former Bellbrook Soccer Standout

Soccer or horses? The choice was tough for Joy VonHandorf.

She was an outstanding soccer player when she was Joy Meredith attending Bellbrook High School in the early ’90s. After graduating from Ohio University, she returned to school to teach and was the assistant girls soccer for two years.

Horses, though, were never far away.

“I had one horse in high school and couldn’t wait to get done with soccer or basketball so I could ride,” she said. Her first date with husband Jeff VonHandorf was walking her horse from one farm to another because she had no trailer.
